Second Annual Giant Challenge is THIS WEEKEND! (7/22 – 7/24)

The first Giant Challenge was a blast. The second will be even bigger and better!

Mark your calendars now. We’re calling ALL GIANTS to come home for this event! It’s going to be … well … GIANT!

Thinking of planning a class reunion? You’ll want to be here on Giant Challenge weekend. (And remember to email us your reunion information, info@mhsalum.com, and we’ll get it on our calendar!)

Current Giant athletes will again face off against alumni teams. But this year there will be MORE community events. MORE entertainment. MORE recognitions. You don’t want to miss it!

July 22-24,  2016, is GIANT CHALLENGE WEEKEND!


Below is a look at a tentative schedule, but please note that details are are subject to change.

As event registrations are opened up, links will be added. But if you’re considering participating in multiple events, you might want to consider the price break that the Weekend Event Package offers.  Please note that online event registration is now over. You can still register in person at the events!

>> Only want to watch? Buy a weekend spectator pass for only $10, and get into every sporting event all weekend! (Kids high school age and younger get in free.)

>> T-shirts pre-orders are now over. There may be T-shirts available for sale at the events.

July 22: 

  • The Gallagher Giant Golf Scramble. Tee times may still will be available. Open to the community. Call Meshingomesia Golf and Social Club at 662-6881.
  • Alumni vs. athletes games: 
  • Lights Out Bowling with Ronnie Russell at Crest Lanes and an after-party / show featuring MHS alum Sammie Miles outside the Plymouth Club, 9:30 p.m. Open to the community; watch for registration information.

July 23:

  • Giant Pride Run/Walk (5k/1-mile), check-in / registration 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. Race starts at 8:30 a.m. Open to the community.
  • Giant Pep Band , 9 a.m. at Bill Green Arena; full practice itinerary here. Open to the community. Pep band will play during basketball games. See details below.
  • Alumni vs. athletes games: 
    • Homerun Derby, noon
    • Softball/Baseball, 1 p.m.
    • Volleyball, 4 p.m.
    • Girls basketball, 5:30 p.m.
      • Giant Pep Band will play during game
    • 3-point Shootout, 7 p.m.
      • NBA All-Star Zach Randolph plans to participate, among many others!
    • Boys basketball, 7:30 p.m.
      • The 2016 State Championship banner will be unveiled at this game
      • MHS Hall of Distinction 2016 inductees will be honored
      • NBA All-Star Zach Randolph will be on the coaches bench!
      • Giant Pep Band will play during game

July 24:
